Transformation
is the process of changing the nature or character of something.
Transcendence is the state of going beyond usual limits. In more
concrete terms, transformation requires effort while transcendence
refers to the effortless change from one state of being to another. In
the context of personal growth and healing, transformation and
transcendence are both very important strategies for accomplishing
change.
Transformation
perhaps sounds more arduous. This is the work of taking a habit
that no longer serves you and turning it into a habit that does.
For example, resentment turned into forgiveness and appreciation.
Or over-eating turned into self love. Or drug addiction turned
into the joy of allowing. It usually takes time. Time to
learn why the habit no longer serves you. Time to understand and
choose the replacement habit. Time to face the shadows that
created the bad habit. Time to love the shadows that created the
bad habit. Time to practice the new habit. On and on.
It is a process. The ancient tradition of alchemy is a great metaphor for how it
works. Click here to go to one of my Favorite Links, The School of

Transcendence
is not about "working through" the trial and tribulations of
change. It is about choosing a better thought; a better action; a
better deed. It is the pro-active practice of letting your
emotions guide you to your next better feeling step. Transcendence
is the choice in any given moment to feel good. Click here to go

the Science of Deliberate Creation. Or click here to go to another

strategy of Transcendence.
Many
self-help books have been written on the subjects of both transformation
and transcendence. Though these terms are seldom used.
Generally, each book will claim that their version of transformation or
their version of transcendence is the only way to ......... (fill in the
blank). Stop smoking, cure cancer, lose weight, or sky dive,
etc.
It
is very likely that either strategy chosen at the wrong time will result in
failure. Or in other words, both strategies chosen at the correct
time result in great success.
The
obvious question might be, how do you know when is the correct time for
transformation? When is the correct time for transcendence?
The
following pages represent some tools
that can help answer that question. And
still, you will want to find your own tools. As
you should.
